Call Congress Today – Pass the Educational Choice for Children Act!
THE ISSUE:
The Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) enhances parental rights by allowing families to choose the best schools for their children. The ECCA does this by creating a $10 billion federal income tax credit for scholarships for low-income and middle-class children across the United States for expenses related to public, private, and homeschooling education.
The ECCA is about quality education. It directs tax credits to Scholarship Granting Organizations that would issue scholarships for families to use for a variety of qualified expenses, from tuition to textbooks, in educational pathways that meet state standards.
In addition to promoting quality education, this bill would also help parents express their First Amendment rights across generations, choosing the most suitable private school for their family – a secular or a religious school, a school centered around science or the arts, or materials for home schooling.
This bill is on the very edge of passing the House of Representatives. But it needs a nudge to pass. It needs you.
